Over the weekend: June 22,2013 at Carter Tabernacle AME Church. The Grand Finale Concert of the Release The Sound competition was held. This event was hosted and heavily promoted by Central Florida Resident and local entrepreneur "Sharonda Woodard". She promotes events that foster cohesiveness within the local and statewide gospel artist community, promotion of economic development and social causes as well as remembrance projects. After each show she addresses the attendees and thanks them for their support and attendance.  The shows start on time and the atmosphere is filled with the sound of music and soulful singing and performances by several gospel artists, dance teams, holy hip hop rapping and musicians.

If you have ever had an opportunity to see a live performance of Lawrence Flowers and Intercession, then you would have witnessed one of the Gospel Industries most colorful, energetic and soul stirring  Indie Artist in America. Not only can they really sing but they do so with fervor and passion, and it takes that to move a people into a particular place especially when dealing with fickle church people.

Despite all of this, there was one problem with this event and many events like it being held in the Orlando and surrounding areas. Several events don't attract attendees. The attendance was very low. This event was set up for about 100-250 people, although it probably could have held twice that amount. But more than half of the seats were empty. This seems to be an unfortunate trend. From my understanding the event was  well publicized through local radio, adds, and social media. Maybe people had other activities that required their attention. After all, this event was on a Saturday night.

It was very disheartening to see someone with as much passion as Sharonda and other artists such as Jayvis Mays, Justin Felton and others have for the gospel community  organize event after event with little support. The mission of these events is to assist the people in the community by making them aware of the happening in the gospel community and bring partnerships and collaborations.

I wonder what the real issue is, why aren't people in Orlando responsive to events such as this?
